• Sarah Kelly, sales and marketing coordinator for Dakota Stone Design in Fargo, N.D., is the winner of its 2005 Migliore Natural Stone Education Scholarship from the Marble Institute of America (MIA). The education scholarship, granted on the basis of a 500-word essay from Kelly on her commitment to the stone industry, covered travel expenses to StonExpo 2005. The honor is named for Vincent Migliore, a world-renowned stone expert who served as MIA Technical Director from 1997-2003..
• The Marble Institute of America (MIA) elected Tom McNall, owner of Great Northern Stone in Exeter, Ontario, to its board of directors. He’s one of the founding members of MarbleCleaning.org, as well as a panel member with the organization’s “Ask the Stone Experts”™. McNall also frequently contributes to a variety of media on stone maintenance and restoration topics via online bulletin boards, radio shows, MIA seminars and presentations and print publications, including his monthly “A Clean Perspective” column with Stone Business.
