Gallegos Wins Safety Honors
The American Society of Concrete Contractors recognized the Vail-based stone company for an incident rate that fell well below the national average – the firm came in at 3.9, while the national average was 4.6 among private industry and 6.8 for masonry contractors.
Reporting 775,841 man-hours in 2005, Gallegos had only 16 injuries – far below the national average. Not a single accident was reported in several of the company’s divisions in 2005.
The American Subcontractor’s Association of Colorado bestowed The Gallegos Corporation with two awards: the 2006 Excellence in Safety for a large company with more than 500,000 man-hours worked in one year; and the Most Improved Safety Program for having an incident rate below the national average.
“I am proud of the initiative my employees take in practicing safe work procedures; and that every year our safety rates improve. These awards could never have been obtained without the hard work and dedication towards safety from our employees,” says Gerald Gallegos, company CEO. “With insurance costs continuing to rise, it is essential that we maintain a safe workplace,”
The Gallegos Corporation specializes in distinctive residential and commercial plaster/stucco, concrete, marble/granite work and stone sales. In addition to Vail, the company maintains offices in Aspen, Colo.; Bozeman, Mont.; Denver; Lake Tahoe, Calif.; Sun Valley, Idaho; and Telluride, Colo.
