DuPont Buys StoneTech Professional
WILMINGTON, Del. – DuPont Chemical Solutions Enterprise (DCSE) agreed on Feb. 3 to acquire the business and marketing assets of StoneTech Professional Inc. of Walnut Creek, Calif. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
“This acquisition is a strategic fit for DCSE,” says John Moriarty, global market leader for DCSE’s Surface Protection Solutions (SPS). “DuPont is a dependable supplier of quality products and innovations to the stone and tile industry. This acquisition will expand and improve our product offerings and competencies to meet overall growing surface-protection requirements.
“We look forward to servicing the growing needs of both our current DuPont customers, as well as the existing StoneTech Professional customer base,” Moriarty adds.
As part of strategic growth initiatives, SPS has been supplying various markets and end-use applications with chemistries to protect surfaces from water penetration, staining, spotting and soil damage for more than 35 years. In a statement announcing the deal, DuPont noted that the acquisition enables it to build upon core competencies in providing durable surface protection for a growing market segment.
StoneTech Professional, founded in 1996, released its first product for the stone trade, Impregnator Pro™, that same year. The company expanded its line and opened a new factory in Pittsburg, Calif., in 2000.
StoneTech Professional also gained a place on Inc.’s list of the fastest-growing U.S. companies in 2002, and appeared on the list in 2003 and 2004. In placing the company at No. 404 on the Inc. 500, the magazine reported 2003 revenues of $6.2 million.
