• Approxmately $17 million in stone is heading from the Indian state of Rajasthan to China for construction associated with the 2008 Olympic Games in Bejing. Vineet Patni, a Kishangarh marble exporter, told the IndiaExpress Bureau that ordered materials include granite, marble tiles, slabs and other stonework.
• The Italian Trade Commission will sponsor “The Natural Stone Industry of Italy – International Sourcing, Selection and Fabrication” at the Architectural Stone and Ceramic Tile Exposition (ASCTEX) at Neocon in Chicago on June 13-15. Vince Marazita of Marazita and Associates will be the presenter.
• Landmark Stone will reopen a limestone quarry near Waikerie, South Australia, and begin extracting stone for the first time in three decades, according to the Australian Broacasting Corp. The first order of stone – five cubic meters – will be used to restore the Savings Bank building in Adelaide.
