Blade Code Offered For Diamond Saws
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Concrete Sawing and Drilling Association (CDSA) announced a new standard in May for identifying applications for diamond-saw blades.
The standards, endorsed by the Masonry and Concrete Saw Manufacturers Institute, covers diamond-saw blades 12” or greater in diameter. Code markings will be permanently imprinted on blades.
Code markings will involve three positions of letter designations separated by dashes, as in “X-X-X.”
The first position will be either W or D; W notes that the blade is for wet-use only, while D indicates it can be used in wet or dry applications.
The second position will note approved materials for the saw; T indicates the blade can be used on tile, ceramic or stone. C and G deal with concrete (cured or green); A is for asphalt; O is asphalt over concrete; and B is brick, block, masonries and refractories.
The third position indicates saw types, such as F for flat saw, W for wall saw, H for handheld saw, S for stationary saw and M for masonry or tile saw.
The new standard is available on the CDSA Website in the Standards and Specs section.
