Verona 2002 Numbers Up

VERONA, Italy – The 37th Marmomacc event last October drew more than 55,000 attendees – and at least one of every three persons walking through the exhibit grounds didn’t come from Italy.
Preliminary numbers from organizing company VeronaFiere shows a total 57,786 visitors, and the amount coming from outside Italy totaled 19,133 … or 33 percent.
Those who went to Verona saw 1,336 exhibitors filling out approximately 686,000 ft² of space both inside and outside the nine halls, with a strong (61 percent) Italian domination of exhibiting companies. However, the total number of Italian companies exhibiting was down slightly.
U.S. participation, however, remained limited. The 12 stateside exhibitors were dominated by publications (including Stone Business), stone suppliers and equipment manufacturers/suppliers Dev Industrial Corp. and Vytek Inc.
Attendee numbers on U.S. visitors is currently unavailable, but a sampling of attendees estimated that 10.4 percent of them hailed from North America.
