InnoChem Gets Plastic Associates

   InnoChem, an affiliate of the German stone-products manufacturer AKEMI GROUP, also began distribution of the Akemi stone-care line in North America, as of Jan. 1.
   InnoChem’s acquisition of the assets of Plastic Associates gives the company the full line of KBOND polyester- and epoxy-adhesive products. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
   InnoChem also announced the opening of a 30,000 ft² manufacturing facility in Doraville. The plant will manufacture some Akemi products.
   A restructuring of Akemi distribution this month also resulted in InnoChem absorbing Holbrook, N.Y.-based Akemi North America, the previous distributor of Akemi products. A statement from Nuremberg, Germany-based Akemi GmbH, noted that the parent company of AKEMI GROUP “appreciates the past efforts of Akemi North America.”
   Akemi GmbH has been manufacturing leading-edge adhesives and care products for the natural-stone industry since 1933. The company, in its statement, noted that its expanded domestic activities through InnoChem will include enhanced and ongoing training and product offerings to the North American natural-stone industry.
