NKBA Tips MIA as Granite/Radon Info Source
The Hackettstown, N.J.-based NKBA, in a public statement, also recommended that consumers consult with the group’s certified designers to address radon and other health-safety concerns in remodeling a kitchen or bath.
Citing the recent coverage of “the possibility that granite countertops may contain dangerously high levels of radon,” the NKBA noted that its certification training covers proper methods for eliminating radon and other hazardous gases, as well as other health concerns.
“The NKBA has long recognized the carcinogenic effects of radon in the home,” the statement noted.
The NKBA recommended the MIA – an associate member of the kitchen/bath industry group – for consumers as “a reliable source of information” on the topic, noting its 2008 radon study, a consumer brochure and additional documents at the MIA’s Website.
