Aug. 19 Deadline for Tucker Awards (Aug. 4)
The biennial competition recognizes and honors professionals who exhibit excellence in the use of natural stone in design and construction. All aspects of natural stone installation, whether exterior building, landscape or interior design of commercial, institutional, or residential projects are considered in the Tucker Design Award selection process.
Natural stone’s role in sustainable design should be regarded as a necessary component to green building, and will be inherently considered in each award.
Completed projects — except for previous Tucker winners — worldwide are eligible. Entries submitted for previous Tucker awards can be resubmitted.
The 2012 jurors are Ripley Rasmus, Director of Design, HOK St. Louis; Rae Price, FASLA, Peridian International, Newport Beach, Calif.; and Peter MacKetih, Associate Dean, Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Art, Washington University, St. Louis.
Entry forms and fees — $100 for the first submission, $75 each for additional projects — need to be submitted to the BSI by Aug. 19. Completed submission binders for entries are due Oct. 3, with judging on Oct. 20.
The 2012 awards will be presented at a ceremony on May 11 at the Missouri Botanical Gardens in St. Louis.
The BSI’s website offers the eligibility requirements and official entry form; for more information, contact the BSI at (866) 786-6313 or by email.
