Architects Get Share of 2011 Pinnacle Awards (April 6)
As part of the annual natural-stone honors from the Marble Institute of America (MIA), someone from the architectural firm involved with the Grande Pinnacle Award – the top overall prize – will receive an expenses-paid trip to Verona, Italy, to attend Marmomacc 2012.
Along with the airfare, hotel, means and local transportation, the winner also gets the week-long continuing education program from Marmomacc (the Grande Pinnacle’s sole sponsor for 2011) on designing with natural stone, good for 20+ LU credits.
“Marmomacc and the MIA share the goal of promoting the use of natural stone by engaging the architectural community and inspiring it to use stone in increasingly aesthetic and diverse ways,” said Mauro Albano, Marmomacc manager. “Offering a Marmomacc-sponsored MIA Grande Pinnacle Award and a trip to Marmomacc to a representative from the winning project’s architectural firm is a natural extension of our joint efforts and, more importantly, a way to better recognize the fundamental role of the architect in innovative stone design.”
“This is yet another great step by a fantastic MIA partner, Marmomacc, to both honor and educate architects about the use of natural stone in their projects,” said GK Naquin, MIA president. “What better way to honor an award-winning architect than by immersion in our beautiful world of stone attending Marmomacc.”
In addition, all 2011 winners of Pinnacle Awards of Excellence or Merit can invite an architect from the firm involved in the winning project to StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas 2012 in Las Vegas next January.
With the support of show owner/producer Hanley Wood Exhibitions, the architects will receive three nights lodging in Las Vegas and will be invited to a VIP reception. Also, Marmomacc/VeronaFiere will invite the architects to take part in a full-day educational program held during StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas.
The initial 2011 Pinnacle Awards call for entries will be included with the MIA’s newsletter this month. The deadline for accepting entries is Aug. 12.
