PROCTOR, Vt. — America’s Eternal Flame: The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a documentary on the Arlington, Va., memorial, won an Omni Intermedia Award today.
The Vermont Marble Museum won a Silver award in the Entertainment category for the 11-minute documentary film that traces the production of the tomb in the early 1930s.
The film notes the quarrying of the 56-ton block of pure white Yule Colorado from the Yule quarry in Marble, Colo. the block’s journey to Vermont by rail where it was carved an the Proctor shops of the Vermont Marble Co.; and its present day significance as an American icon in Arlington National Cemetery.
The video is shown daily from May-October at the Vermont Marble Museum in Proctor.
The film was produced by Colorado Springs, Colo.-based independent filmmaker Kurt Supancic and written by Cathy Miglorie, director of the Vermont Marble Museum. The production is narrated by Sharon Green, a professor at Pikes Peak College in Colorado Springs.
The Omni Intermedia Award from Media Corp. Inc. is an international competition recognizing outstanding media productions that engage, empower and enlighten. Awards are given in the fields of Film and Video, Animation and Effects, and Website Design.
