MIA Tech Bulletin E-Offered to 95K Architects
ArchitectureWeek, in both their e-newsletter and “Download Center” portion of their website, featured Dimension Stone Anchorage Theory, Practice, and Components to serve as a general guide to the practice of mechanically anchoring dimension stone. The e-newsletter is distributed to over 95,000 architects.
The bulletin, prepared as a guide to the tradesperson, provides general valuable insight on how stone-anchorage devices interface with stone panels and a building’s structure. Common anchorage devices are discussed, as well as some guidance regarding why certain anchor device selections may be more appropriate than others in particular situations.
“This was the type of exposure that we were hoping with our technical bulletins,” said MIA President Brett Rugo. “Exposing architects and designers to our technical writings and being recognized as the worldwide leader, with respect to natural stone technical data and standard setting, is a crucial component of the MIA Strategic Plan.”
The MIA also released Joint Sealants: Products & Application for the Natural Stone Industry earlier this year, and Cement Types and Usage with Natural Stone last month. All three of these technical documents are available to MIA members for free in the members-only area of the MIA website, and for purchase by the general public in the MIA online bookstore.
The MIA plans to release nine additional technical bulletins in the next 24-36 months.
