Cable Show Offers $10K Prize in Masonry Contest (Sept. 3)
DENVER – If you think your stonework stacks up better than anyone else’s, you may be able to pick up $10,000 next month – courtesy of a home-improvement cable show.
DIY Dominator, broadcast on the DIY Network, is casting an upcoming episode on masonry. Production is scheduled for mid-October in the Denver area.
Dominator places tradespeople in head-to-head competition in construction and home-improvement projects. The show’s format puts three people in the mix, contending with each other and the clock.
The payoff: $10,000 to the winner. The two runners-up get $500; all contestants receive round-trip accommodations to Denver for the competition.
Qualifications for contestants are simple; an entrant needs to be at least 18 years old, and must sign an appearance release and safety agreement.
They also need to fill out a detailed application that’s available online here. The show’s producer, High Noon Entertainment, notes that unfamiliarity with a particular skill listed on the form won’t disqualify a prospective contestant.
Applicants also need to submit at least five photos showing projects in final form or in progress, as well as two recent photos of themselves (standing up, with no hats and sunglasses).
For more information (or to submit their entries in a form other than online), contact High Noon’s Cindy Baggish by email or at 303-712-3093.
