Aug. 20 New Deadline for MIA Migliore Award
CLEVELAND – Nominations for this year’s Migliore Award from the Marble Institute of America (MIA) are now due on Aug. 20.
Established in 2003, the award recognizes an individual for extraordinary contributions to the natural-stone industry and the Marble Institute of America. The award is named for MIA’s long-time technical director, the late Vincent R. Migliore, who was its first recipient.
Award winners are chosen by the MIA Board of Directors from nominations submitted by the MIA membership. Selection criteria include:
• Successful and notable accomplishments within the framework of a professional career in natural stone;
• The intensity of involvement and dedication to the activities and objectives of MIA;
• Contributions made to furthering professionals within the natural-stone industry; and
• National recognition, competence, or contributions to other associations and organizations serving the natural-stone industry.
Terry O’Neil received the lifetime-achievement award last year. Other honorees include Louie Carnevale, Carnevale & Lohr Inc.; Vic Green, VIC International Corp.; Bernie J. Polak, Denver Marble Co.; Malcolm Cohen, Miller Druck Specialty Contracting Co.; and Joe Kapcheck, J. Kapcheck & Company.
