WATERJET
Biesse America, Charlotte, N.C., offers the Intermac Primus, a five-axes CNC waterjet with a work area of 73.2” X 157.4” and a 9.8” Z-axis stroke. The machine handles material up to 2.5cm in thickness, utilizing intesifiers from 50 HP-100 HP with a maximum pressure of 420 Mpa., and delivering water from 3.8 liters/7.8 liters per minute. Abrasive flow can be controlled by the operator, with an automatic integrated system to remove abrasives after cutting. The Windows XP interface also includes Intermac’s ICam CAD/CAM software for operation.
EDGE POLISHER
Marmo Meccanica SpA, Monsano Italy, offers the LCH line of horizontal-edge polishers for flat edges on 1cm- to 6cm-thick slabs. The belt-driven-machine line includes seven mandrels for smoothing, polishing wheels; individual models feature combinations of additional mandrels for calibration of drip edges. An extension arm supports pieces wider than the drive belt; waste water goes receptacles under the machine and drained through a collection pipe. The company operates a North American sales office and offers service and parts through Marmo Parts and Service LLC in Farmington Hills, Mich.
CNC PRODUCTION CENTER
Burkhardt GmbH, Bayreuth, Germany, introduces the BAX 595-D, a three- to five-axes CNC production center available with a rotary table supporting two work surfaces for two-way loading/production. Each work surface can handle pieces up to 3,500mm/137.7” X 1,400mm/55.1”. The machine’s 65-tool magazine can be enlarged to 130 places; additional options include a swivel axis for inclined drainboards.
WATERJET
Jet Edge Inc., St. Michael, Minn., introduces its 5’ Mid Rail Gantry Waterjet System in 5’ X 5’, 5’ X 13’, 8’ X 5’, and 21’ X 5’ work envelopes. The three-axes machines feature an exposed tank for easy overhead loading; a second cutting head can be added to increase productivity. The series is also available in 8’ X 13’ and 21’ X 13’ working areas.
BRIDGE-SAW BLADES
Salem Stone, Winston-Salem, N.C., introduces the ZENESIS II bridge-saw blade, made from a patented diamond-bonding technology for faster, smoother and straighter cuts. The diamonds are held in the segments until completely used, with spent diamonds then released to expose new, sharp diamonds. The blades are available in 12”, 14”, 16” and 18” diameters.

MC Machinery Systems Inc., Wood Dale, Ill., offers the Suprema, a four-axes waterjet with submerged cutting and an internal abrasive removal system. The machine features work areas of 4’ X 4’ to 10’ X 20’, depending on the model; options include a second cutting head.
MULTIPLE CHISEL SIZES
Stone Pro Equipment Co., Effingham, Ill., now offers its Beaver Chisel in two sizes. The Small Beaver handles stone in thicknesses from 3/4”-1 5/8”; the Large Beaver works with stone from 3/4”-2 3/4”. A scallop-chisel accessory is available for producing scalloped edges.
