METAL-LOOK QUARTZ
Cosentino North America, Stafford, Texas, introduces the Silestone® Platinum Collection, a new line of metal-look quartz surfaces in collaboration with Silestone and Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso. The line is produced with zero emissions and recycled water during manufacturing, and also includes Microban® antimicrobial protection. It’s available in metallized textures of Carbono, Chrome, Steel and Zirconium.
RECLAIMED LIMESTONE
Yellow Mountain StoneWorks Inc., Seattle, offers reclaimed Grand Tortoise Limestone from the Yangzi River region in China. The stone, part of a embankment on a Yangzi tributary buried for more than 650 years, features a chocolate color with some veining in a square, mottled pattern. The company is fabricating blocks of the stone into veneer, quoins, and pavers.
NEW QUARTZ COLORS
Caesarstone, Van Nuys, Calif., introduces its 2009 collection of eight new colors, including two recycled-glass surfaces, Smoky Ash and Chocolate Truffle; Black Rocks, offering randomization of aggregate texture and shape and Basalt Black, with a matte-hammered finish. Other new colors are Buttermilk, Organic White, Dusty Stones and Basalt Black.
HAND-PRINTED FLOORING
StoneImpressions, San Diego, offers color hand-printed stone for flooring. Tiles can be printed from a large selection of murals and patterns; custom designs can also be produced. All printing is sealed and enhanced with a UV-curing process. Sizes include 12” X 12”, 18” X 18”, small pieces and multiple-sized patterns in travertine, noce, Durango, Botticino and limestone.
RECYCLED GLASS SURFACE
Vetrazzo, Richmond, Calif., introduces four new earth tones that combine “Flint Glass” from recycled clear bottles and jars, set in a lightly tinted base. As with all Vetrazzo colors, the new Flint collection combines 100-percent recycled glass in a proprietary cement-based, resin-free binder.
STONE SINK
Terra Acqua, Santa Barbara, Calif., offers Veloz, a handcrafted stone vessel sink with a low-profile oval design and beveled rim. Shaped from a single block of stone, the sink is available in green onyx, white onyx, fossil marble and sandstone.
EQUIPMENT
CNC SAW
ScandInvent AB, Västeräs, Sweden, introduces the SX5, a five-axes CNC saw with three open sides for easy material handling. The machine, with monobloc construction, offers a 137.8” X 74.8” work area and a Z-axis stroke of 7.9”; the saw head rotates 360°, with a tilt of up to 90° for mitre cuts. The spindle, operating at 15 HP-21 HP and a maximum rotation of 2,900rpm, can accept blades from 300mm-625mm in diameter. Options included a tiltable table, multi-direction work surface wheels and additional work surfaces for imaging, loading and unloading.
