Arizona School Up and Running
The school offers four- and five-day courses, using an operating slab-fabrication company – Vintage Granite in Gilbert – for the instructional area. AZ School of Rock also provides training in English and Spanish to all students.
“Since we are a functioning slab fabricator, there will always be production for the students to observe, along with their own projects to complete for the course requirements,” Padden adds.
The hands-on classes include instruction in basic countertop fabrication and installation, stone restoration and polishing, operations management, sales/estimating, safety and facility planning.
The basic countertop course, offered monthly from now through March, includes four days of training – two days in the shop, one with templating and one with installation.
Partnering with Stone Restoration Services of Birmingham, Mich., the courses on stone restoration/polishing will be taught in Gilbert by industry leader – and Stone Business columnist – Tom McNall.
