In conjunction with a complete restoration of the building’s foundation, granite plinth blocks surrounding the main entrance were removed, cut-down to 4” veneer and reinstalled over a waterproof and insulated substructure. Additional blocks, capstones and curbing were fabricated from Sterling Grey granite to accommodate minute changes to the façade’s design. Each component required bush-hammering to accurately match the color and texture of the existing stonework.
Many interior applications also feature Sterling Grey, including key elements of the newly constructed pavilion. Hundreds of large trapezoidal tiles line the floor and support columns in the pavilion’s lower level, while Zimbabwe Black stair treads create contrast.
