2009 Pinnacle Awards
The honors from the Marble Institute of America (MIA) stretched to that famous number this year, including the best-of-show Grande Pinnacle Award, sponsored by the Marmomacc event in Verona, Italy. The winner – Italbec U.S. – received a special sculpture.
Open to all MIA members, the Pinnacle Awards demonstrate superior beauty, creativity, ingenuity, and craftsmanship by MIA-member stone suppliers, fabricators, and installers. This year, the winners exhibited exceptional work in Commercial Interiors; Commercial Exteriors; Residential Interior/Exterior; Renovation/Restoration; and a special award for Use of Stone.
Honorees received their awards in October at the MIA’s annual meeting, held concurrently with StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas 2009 in Las Vegas.
The 2009 Pinnacle Awards were judged in Las Vegas. The panel included Christian R. Pongratz of Pongratz, Perbellini Architects, Verona, Italy; James Hogan, MIA immediate past president, Carrara Marble Co., City of Industry, Calif.; Peter A. Follett AIA, Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, New Haven, Conn.; and David Meyer, Meyer + Silberberg Architects, Berkeley, Calif.
