Vermont Quarries Gets Green Nod
Vermont Quarries Corp is the first quarry to have its complete line of marble certified under the product-certification program by the Marietta, Ga.-based Greenguard Environmental Institute (GEI).
The materials went “live” today with a listing on the institute’s Website.
GREENGUARD products emissions requirements set by the institute, such as being screened for more than 10,000 chemicals. All certified products can be found in an online product guide.
Vermont Quarries’ white marble also qualifies for the LEED® Certification Credit 7.1 – Heat Island Effect, Non-Roof by using light-colored natural stone with a solar-reflective index of 20 or greater to reduce heat-island effects.
The company’s Danby quarry also sits within 500 miles of these major cities – Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington – making its marble eligible for LEED MR Credit 5.1 & 5.2 Regional Materials.
