Hanwha Gears Up Ontario Quartz Plant
The 200,000 ft² facility, built to implement the latest environmentally responsible manufacturing processes, will manufacture HanStone™ Fine Quartz for kitchen countertops, vanities and other surfaces for U.S. residential and commercial markets.
The plant, representing $70+ million in investment, will be equipped with the latest technology from Italian manufactured-surface developer Breton S.p.A. for production.
“Our new facility will be the most-advanced, nature-friendly manufacturing plant in the Fine Quartz Surface business, and will produce top quality HanStone products for our customers,” said Daniel Yu, president/CEO for Atlanta-based Hanwha L&C USA. “We are confident that our HanStone Fine Quartz Surface and Hanwha L&C USA sustainable business will continue to grow and be successful in North America, with continual strong support from the architectural and design industry segments.”
Hanwha L&C USA, part of the Korean-based Hanwha Group conglomerate, also recently gained membership with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the promulgator of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design™ (LEED®) green building guidelines.
At the opening, Hanwha L&C USA noted that planned future expansions of the London plant, at a projected cost of $40 million, would enlarge the facility by 180,000 ft².
