Hanley Wood Exhibitions Execs Out
According to a report today from FOLIO: magazine, Galen Poss, president of the Dallas-based exhibitions group of Hanley Wood, resigned. Michael Green, executive vice president for the division, also departed.
Peter Goldstone, president of Washington-based Hanley Wood Business Media division, told the minonline Website today that both Poss and Green are, “pursuing other things.”
Rick McConnell, also a vice president with the exhibitions group, will serve as acting president, said Frank Anton, CEO of corporate parent company Hanley Wood LLC, in an interview with FOLIO:. The company will now look for a new exhibitions president.
Poss’ replacement will step into a changed corporate structure at Hanley Wood. Instead of reporting directly to Anton (as Poss did), the new president will be under Goldstone, another division president.
“This reporting structure will make it easier for our business media group and exhibitions to develop targeted packages – a change we think will better serve customers and drive revenue,” Anton told FOLIO:. “We’ve encouraged this type of teamwork for several years with some success but think it is essential to future success.”
Goldstone noted to minonline that, with the exhibition division, “the operation is intact – an incredible team in Dallas that will stay in place.”
Both Poss and Green came to Hanley Wood in 2000 from exposition producer Miller Freeman Inc. The two began a show-management company, Precision Planning Sales, in 1983, and sold it to Miller Freeman ten years later.
Anton told FOLIO: that Hanley Wood’s exhibition division had a record year in 2009, with $60 million in revenues.
This year, however, earnings and revenue are down by more than 10 percent, he said.
In addition to StonExpo, the company produces other shows of interest to the stone and construction trades, including Surfaces and World of Concrete.
