Pedrini: High-Tech for Syria
LATTAKIA, Syria – An important system for the production of marble slabs, produced by Pedrini S.p.A. has been installed by Zein Marble and Granite, a part of Zein Brothers and Co. operating in the Syrian market for over 80 years in several sectors such as food, wood, steel and building materials.
The system layout, designed in cooperation with the technical division of Carobbio degli Angeli, Italy-based Pedrini, is in existing building covering a surface of about 3000 m², equipped with inner bridge crane and assisted by an outer bridge crane with runways about 150m long.
The Pedrini system is composed of a cutting department, a resining department and a complete polishing line, with a yearly productive capacity of about 400,000 m².
The cutting department is equipped with three GS131 80-blade gang saws. The saws feature opposed control arms for the rectilinear guide of the blade-holder frame, and ensure smooth and frictionless movements resulting in a long and service-free life.
The slab-finishing line includes a pre-polishing machine and Galaxy B220 polishing machine, connected with a system of ovens and conveyors for drying, puttying and resin hardening. It’s equipped with 4 automatic vacuum-hold loaders/unloaders for the supply, the unloading and the intermediate transfers.
The machines are equipped with PC for an easier “touch screen” programming and management of all operating functions. The ROTOR spindles – manufactured as enbloc systems with vertical sliding controlled by counter-pressure – operate the polishing heads by direct drive, eliminating radial stress on the bearings.
The ROTOR spindles also use large-diameter pipes operating at the spindle center for tool lubrication to eliminate water leaks. The soft and even action of the multidirectional joint, connecting the spindle to the polishing head, includes a centering system to optimize the tool work.
The resining line features a 40-position vertical oven, with double heating system independent of the pre-heating section and the polymerizing section.
