Pedrini: Resin Line In At Volargne

VOLARGNE, Italy – The latest Pedrini S.p.A. resining line, designed for medium-sized needs, has been purchased by Marmi Montebaldo for its factory here. It will be used for processing marble and granite slabs with a maximum productivity of 15 slabs/hour with just a single operator
The automatic-cycle line is tailored to process slabs up to dimensions 3.6.m x 2.2m and to a 4cm thickness. It meets the requirements of companies that need resining, but don’t want to be involved in large-scale production.
A single sucker robot (Butterfly M416 CS) loads and unloads stone, using two slab-holding stands with automatic rotation and a rotating platform for processing and for tilting the slabs to apply the reinforcing mesh. The whole loading and unloading system moves on seven PLC-controlled axes.
During the feeding, the robot moves along overhead tracks and lays the slabs on trays reinforced with a thick mesh that’s welded on the upper surface. The mesh prevents fragments from possibly falling along the line or inside the kiln.
Motorized rollers on two overlapped planes works to position the full trays in the different processing stations, and then bring the empty ones back to the loading area.
The vertical oven, made up of a 10-layer lower section for the slab pre-heating and of a 30-layer upper section for the resin polymerization, is equipped with special ducting distributing the air on the upper and lower surfaces of each tray to ensure even treatment and highest energy savings The two oven sections are also equipped with ducts and individual heat sources to guarantee the ideal temperature for each treatment type.
A fast lift, guided on four columns and equipped with a pusher/ejector unit, inserts and extracts the trays from the different oven planes.
The production cycle of 4 minutes per slab includes a dedicated 40 minutes to slab pre-heating and 120 minutes for the resin polymerization. The slab stay time in the resining area by less than 4 minutes allows the operator to finish the process accurately and calmly.
