DENVER – Critics have called the new Frederic C. Hamilton Building at the Denver Art Museum a lightning bolt, a tour-de-force and the most-unusual building project in the last four decades. Inspired by the geology of the nearby Rocky Mountains and clad with 9,000 panels of titanium, it’s hard to dispute that this is a 21st-century building.

Northwood Machine Manufacturing Co. expands its Stoneworks Division with Robbie Tidwell as sales and marketing manager. Tidwell, who’s been with the Louisville, Ky.-based company since 1992, holds extensive industry experience, including operation of his own CNC-equipped cabinet shop, as well as regional sales and customer support management.
Northwood also appoints Anthony Crain and Bryan Johnson as application engineers responsible for the operation of the state-of-the-art Northwood Education and Research Center, which expands and facilitates technology transfer from the company to its customers. The company also adds Leanne Hernandez as director of marketing; she joins the company after providing marketing services to Northwood for several years on an independent basis.

StonExpo East Marks First Year

ATLANTA – The inaugural StonExpo East pulled in more than 3,500 people involved in the trade during its run on March 24-27 at the Georgia World Congress Center.
The show drew a total attendance of 3,688 stone professionals to see 216 exhibiting companies in over 83,000 net ft(2) of exhibit space.
