MIA Pinnacle Awards 2008
The awards program from the Marble Institute of America (MIA) added an new tribute this year with the Grande Pinnacle Award, sponsored by the Marmomacc event in Verona, Italy. The best-of-show winner – Walker Zanger – received a special sculpture.
Open to all MIA members, the Pinnacle Awards demonstrate superior beauty, creativity, ingenuity, and craftsmanship by MIA-member stone suppliers, fabricators, and installers. This year, the winners exhibited exceptional work in Commercial Interiors; Commercial Exteriors; Residential Interior/Exterior; Renovation; and a Special Award for Artistry and Technology.
Judges making the difficult final decisions on awards for 2008 are: Stan Haas, Nelsen Partners, Austin, Texas; Jack Seiders, Architectural Granite & Marble Inc. (and MIA immediate past president); Christian Pongratz, Pongratz Perbellini Architects, Verona; and Chuck Muehlbauer, MIA’s technical director.
The panel reviewed the entries earlier this year in Austin, Texas. Honorees received their awards on Oct. 17 at the MIA’s annual meeting, held concurrently with StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas 2008 in Las Vegas.
