Park Holds Digital Expo

The expo, another in a series of educational events held at Park, brought together shops from across the United States and Canada for a one-day educational seminar to learn how digital fabrication can reduce production cost, improve process control, and create marketing advantages to improve their business profitability.

Industry leading fabricators such as Paul Menninger of Capitol Granite & Marble in Midlothian, Va., and Stuart Young of The Granite Shop in Calgary, Alberta, offered from-the-trenches information to stone countertop fabricators.

Menninger, spoke about the bottom-line impact of implementing digital technology into his fabrication process and shared many of his financial results. Young focused on the transformation of a manual shop into a digital shop, and also shared many of his experiences and financial results.

Product demonstrations from industry suppliers included Laser Products Industries and its Digital Templating Systems and Slabsmith™ Digital Photo Layout & Slab Inventory software from Northwood Designs Inc.

Matt Binsfeld, Park application engineer, detailed the entire digital fabrication process works with the company’s PATHFINDER software system, FUSION 4045 CNC Saw/Waterjet and TITAN 1800 CNC Stonecenter.

“It’s a great way to understand how all the pieces of digital stoneworking technology work together,” said Tom Schlough, Park president. “We had attendees thank us for the candid and open information presented over the course of the day.”
