Rocky Awards 2006 Roll Along

LAS VEGASCactus Stone of Phoenix ended up as the big winner in the 2006 Marble Institute of America (MIA) advertising awards.
The Phoenix.-based stone supplier scored four of the Rocky plaudits for natural-stone promotion. Rock of Ages of Barre, Vt., won three, while Luck Stone Corp. of Richmond, Va., won two honors.
The MIA Advertising Awards competition recognizes the best advertising created by association members, under the sponsorship of Salem Stone of Winston-Salem, N.C.
“When MIA and sponsor Salem Stone launched the awards program in 2005, there were two goals,” said Gary Distelhorst, executive vice president of MIA. “First, of course, was to recognize the best advertising and collateral material produced by MIA companies around the world; and, second, was to raise the overall quality of advertising and promotion in the industry. Both goals are being achieved.”
Top finishers in each category received a coveted Rocky Award, designed especially for the MIA competition. Other notable category entries were awarded handsome Rocky certificates.
New in 2006 was a category designated to honor Website design, functionality and the promotion of natural stone on the Web.
Serving as judges this year were Stephanie Hurt, Liggett Stashower; Kathleen R. Knapik, Liggett Stashower; and Susan Myers, Clear Blue Sky Design.
